The Mount Pleasant Artist Guild (MPAG) is excited to announce that guild artists will participate in the 2019 Mount Pleasant ArtFest to be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Towne Center in Mount Pleasant. The exhibit and sale of original artwork takes place between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. under the MPAG tent in the ArtFest area. Prints and paintings will be available for purchase.
Award winning local artist and instructor Tammy Papa will be judging the MPAG ArtFest show and awarding ribbons to the winners. Papa works primarily in oils and pastel and is known for her creative use of color. Her work can be seen at Edward Dare Gallery downtown, at Sandpiper Gallery on Sullivans Island and on her website www.tammypapa.com. All visitors to the exhibit are encouraged to vote for their favorite painting, and the painting with the most votes will be awarded the People’s Choice ribbon.
This is a fun day for the whole family with live music, dance and children’s activities to go along with top-notch local art by members of the artist guild. Even the children enjoy voting for a favorite painting! Both reasonably priced original art and prints from original art are available for purchase. It is a great opportunity to meet many of the artists with artwork in the show.
The 22-year-old Mt. Pleasant Artist Guild is a non-profit organization of local artists who are interested in promoting the arts. Guild funds earned from ArtFest sales are used to promote arts in the community and for an annual scholarship to an outstanding high school senior for further education in the visual arts. Sales from Perspective Gallery at 1055 Johnnie Dodds Blvd in Mt. Pleasant also contribute to the scholarship. The gallery, owned by MPAG, offers original artwork by guild members as well as workshops in the arts. Written by Jane Hart, ArtsFest Exhibit Chair
