MPAG Member "Virtual" Art Show

AWARD WINNERS

COVID-19 restrictions have prevented MPAG from having regular meetings, and has forced the cancellation of most public arts shows in 2020. This included Artfest at the Mt. Pleasant Towne Center and the annual Blessing of the Fleet at Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park. The inaugural MPAG Member Virtual Art Show is open to all current MPAG members in good standing. Over 60 of our 100 members submitted a piece of art in one of five categories (see below). The Virtual Show launched on November 15, 2020.

We are honored to have these works judged by award winning artists Michele and Jim Ostlund from Asheville, NC. Our esteemed judges have awarded1st, 2nd, 3rd, and one Honorable Mention Place Prizes to works in each of the categories. They have also awarded "Best in Show" from the 1st place finishers in each category.

Notes from our judges: Michele and Jim Ostlund

Michele and I can only speak from experience from different mediums we have delved into through the years as we look back on our own careers as artists while entering our choices for determining success and excellence on to numerous works of art shows shown throughout the years It was very difficult to discern as to which excelled above other works, as there were so many pieces that showed such successful results in the artworks we were studying. But alas, we had to choose, but so many were equally compelling and well done that it was a very difficult choice to make for so many.

We know how much each of you have put into your craft, the love and strength it took for you to produce what you have submitted, and then to have the courage to endure a juried show. We salute you!

An instructor guided us as young artists just starting out, saying, “ You cannot win unless you try”. So keep submitting your work as much as possible, as it is a learning process for all of us, and the evolution of your learning and craftsmanship will serve as an inspiration throughout.

It is also a wonderful way for you to see your work as others may see it… and to learn what you can do to make it stronger and closer to what you envision. Always remember to keep studying Nature, as there is no greater teacher

Award winners will receive a ribbon, a monetary prize and of course bragging rights. Winning entries will also be displayed on this website and honored at a reception on Sunday December 13 at Perspective Gallery.  Dec. 1st Place Winners will also be the featured artists for December at the MPAG Perspective Gallery, located at 1055 Johnnie Dodds Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC.
